INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN ART COMPETITION (2022)

SINGAPORE SHENMO is pleased to announce our FIRST International Children Art Competition.
Collaborating with multiple partners and Shenmo International schools, we wish to provide a platform for our young artists to express their creativity and sharpen their talents through Visual Arts expression
Children (from 4 to 12 years old) are welcome to participate in this competition.
If your child have a passion for the arts, this will be the platform to showcase their creativity and imagination.

Children will have the opportunity to exchange their artistic concepts, expand their horizons, enrich their portfolios and strengthen their sense of social responsibility towards education and this precious earth we live in!

This competition also include participants from Shenmo International Schools in China, Italy, Nigeria, Rwanda, Indonesia, Malaysia and Myanmar.

COMPETITION THEMES :
The future world is full of unknowns, changes, possibilities, and threats due to the rapid development of science and technology, the harsher climate, depleting natural resources and drastic changes in human life style. What can you imagine of the future world? What would you do if you had the power to change the world? Unleash your boundless creativity and show us your ideal future world!
Participants are to demonstrate their observational ability as well as imagination based on the theme “Future World”.

PAPER SIZE :
Participants are to submit their work on paper (A3-size: 29.7cm x 42.0cm).

STEPS TO TAKE PART :
1. Register and Make Payment before 20th Jul 2022
2. Make Payment to Singapore Shenmo Education.
3. Submit the Artwork before 20th Aug 2022

Each Category will each be awarded with Trophy/Medal (for Consolation Award) + Certificate + the opportunity to showcase the Artworks in the Virtual Exhibition

– Silver Award x 15%
– Bronze Award x 20%
– Consolation Award x 50%

COMPETITION DETAILS :

RULES:
1. The competition is only open to all young children world-wide from 4 to 12 years old.
There are Three Categories:
Category A : 4 to 6 years old
Category B : 7 to 9 years old
Category C : 10 to 12 years old
2. The entry should be the sole original work of the participant and there should be no assistance rendered by anyone else.
3. Participants must execute the artwork on A3-sized paper (29.7cm x 42.0cm).
4. Participants are free to use a single or a variety of wet/dry drawing medium combined, such as water colour, acrylic or oil pastels, crayons, or coloured pencils etc.
5. Work should not be framed, no printmaking, collage artwork will be allowed.
6. Participants are free to create an original composition based on the given theme. They are encouraged to demonstrate competent observational drawing skills and some aspects of imaginative elements in their entries.
7. ONE entry per participant only.

*Kindly keep the original works until 31st Dec 2022. The committee of the 2022 Singapore Int’l Children Art Competition reserves the rights to request participants to submit the original works if necessary.
*Participants from China are welcome to send our committee video clips or photos of their creative process via WeChat :wxid_s6ny16apqf22 before 20th Aug.
*Other Participants (from Italy, Malaysia, Indonesia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Myanmar, Hong Kong and Singapore etc) are welcome to send our committee video clips or photos of their creative process via email : 2022intlchildrenart@gmail.com
*Our committee will select, produce short films of the competition to showcase the young artists via our social media and publicity platform after 20th Aug.

SHOWCASE:
All artworks will be showcased in our virtual exhibition.

REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT:
1. The registration fees is S$30 for each participant in Singapore.
2. Portion of the fees collected will be donated to Autism Resource Centre (Singapore) and World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF).

COPYRIGHT:
• The copyright in all participants’ works shall be dealt with in accordance with the SINGAPORE SHENMO Copyright Policy. The ownership of the submitted works remains with SHENMO SINGAPORE and approval must be sought from SINGAPORE SHENMO for any use.
• SINGAPORE SHENMO reserves the right to grant the sponsor permission to adapt and reproduce the artworks including but not limited to corporate gifts that are not intended for sale or profit.
• By submitting an entry to SINGAPORE SHENMO the participant agrees to the terms stated above and allows SINGAPORE SHENMO to share his/her personal data within the Company, to collect and use the data, and to disclose the data to the Company’s authorised service providers and competition sponsor, for the following purposes:
– To contact the award winners and/or participants to discuss any future exhibitions, public events related to their artworks and other art events.
– To be added to the SINGAPORE INT’L CHILDREN ART COMPETITION mailing list to update the competition alumni members on activities related to SINGAPORE SHENMO.

SINGAPORE SHENMO reserves the rights to disqualify entries that do not adhere to the rules and regulations, and to the works created in the actual event including the liberty to handle the works as it deems fit.

*SUBMISSION IS DONE BY INDIVIDUAL PARTICIPANT (besides the participants from group registration with China, Italy, Malaysia, Indonesia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Myanmar and Hong Kong)

Submission Guide
Participants can simple follow the step-by-step instructions for submitting their artworks.

When is the deadline for artwork submission?
The deadline is 20th Aug 2022. But participants are encourage to submit as earlier as possible when the participants have completed their artworks, anytime between 15th Jul to 20th Aug 2022.

How to submit the artwork?
Each participant is limited to one Artwork submission.

Artwork is submitted via online link.
Our committee will provide the online link after 15th July.

*Participants from group registration with China, Italy, Malaysia, Indonesia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Myanmar and Hong Kong, the online link will send via WeChat or email to the Person-In-Charge upon the registration is done. The Person-In-Charge will submit the Artworks on behalf of each participant.

*Participants from other regions including Singapore either group registration or individual registration, the online link will be send to each participant via email upon receiving the full payment.

3. What is the list for EACH participant’s submission ?
a. A clear photo of the Artwork in JPEG format, not less than 1MB
b. Together with the Artist Statement

4. How does the participant write an Artist Statement?
The Artist Statement should not exceed 50words count. Below a sample for reference :
a. A general introduction about the Artwork.
b. It should begin with the work’s basic ideas in an overview of two to three sentences.
c. Followed by details about how these issues or ideas are presented in the work.
d. Some other factors he/she may include: e.g. Sources and inspiration for his/her images

5. How to take photograph of the Artwork for submission using a smartphone?
a. Paste the Artwork flat on the wall
b. Pay attention to the light when shooting. It is good to put the Artwork near the window with sufficient daylight
c. There should not be any shadows cast on the Artwork
d. There should not be other irrelevant objects and backgrounds except the Artwork
e. Please take high-resolution photo of the Artwork
f. Image file size not less than 1MB

The judging panel will comprise representatives from local and international famous art creators, painters, ceramic artist, professionals from the newspaper media, architectural art and art education industry.

They will judge based on the following criteria:
Creativity and Imagination – 40%
Technical Skills – 30%
Overall Aesthetic – 30%

The judges’ decision is final.
Winners will be announced during our Award Ceremony on 25th Sep 2022.
